Weekend Trip to Ajmer and Pushkar: I woke up at around 8 AM, as I had to explore Ajmer and Pushkar today so I was quite excited. I had not booked any package tour bus for Ajmer and Pushkar so far, so decided to book it very first in the morning. I called Gajraj (My day-1 tour guide), he arranged a package tour bus for me to Ajmer and Pushkar. He called me to the office and I paid 450 rupees for Ajmer and Pushkar package tour after I paid, one guy from the office took me to the bus where few people were already sitting inside the bus. I saw around 10 foreigners sitting on the bus. The bus conductor told me to take the seat next to a foreign girl as no one was sitting next to her so that seat was vacant.
The bus started from Jaipur to Pushkar at around 10 AM, we already got the hard copy of the trip plan from the bus conductor, where we had to visit Pushkar first and in Pushkar, we had to visit Brahma Temple and Pushkar Sarovar. On the way to Pushkar from Jaipur, Ajmer comes first so it was decided to visit Pushkar first, there was one more reason to visit Pushkar first and that was, the temple closes at around 2: 30 in the afternoon. So if we don’t reach Pushkar on time, we will miss the opportunity to visit the temple.
We reached Pushkar around 1:20 in the afternoon and very first we went to visit the Brahma Temple. Our bus provided a tour guide with us. The tour guide took us to the temple and then to the Pushkar Sarovar. It is said the Brahma temple in Pushkar is 2,000 years old. Pushkar name is made of Pushpa( flower) and Kar (Hand), Pushkar is the place where flower (lotus flower) fell on the earth from Lord Brahma’s hand.
After the visit to the temple and Pushkar Sarovar, I told my guide that I want to do camel riding so he took me to the camel riding place. It was very expensive camel riding, we were three so we contributed to pay 1500 rupees for camel riding. The total camel riding distance was around 7 km when we started the ride then after every 2 minutes, children, men or women started following our camel cart for the money, they were playing Rajasthani folks songs, we gave money to few people, not to everyone who followed our cart. While riding we also got to see the sets of an iconic Hindi movie called Karan Arjun, I got a chance to see Thakur Durjan Singh Ki Haveli and the Railway Station used in the Karan Arjun movie.
After the camel riding, we were supposed to start our trip to Ajmer and say goodbye to Pushkar.
We started our trip to Ajmer from Pushkar at around 3:30 in the afternoon and we reached Ajmer at around 4:30, the driver parked the bus 4km before the Dargah Sharif and told us to take an auto to reach the Dargah. We reached Dargah after 15 minutes drive in an auto, the auto driver parked the auto little before the Dargah main gate. We took the walk to the Dargah, I was wearing shorts so people told me to wear Lungi before entering in Dargah. I followed their instructions and wore a Lungi to enter in the Dargah. It is estimated that more than 100,000 pilgrimage visits the Dargah every day. Akbar and his queen used to come here by foot on from Agra every year in observance of a vow when he prayed for a son.
After the visit to Dargah Sharif in Ajmer, we were supposed to start our journey back to Jaipur. We started our journey back to Jaipur at around 6 PM and reached Jaipur at around 8:30 PM. After reaching Jaipur I went to Sindhi Camp, had my dinner and got the bus to Delhi.
After getting on the bus to Delhi my weekend trip to Jaipur-Ajmer-Pushkar came to an end.
