Weekend Trip to Mcleodganj from Delhi
A Trip to Mcleodganj: This was one of the most hyped, the most promoted, the most talked about and the most planned trip I ever had so far.
Catching the bus from Delhi to Mcleodganj: Friday:
I started my trip to Mcleodganj on Friday 29th July, sitting in a beautiful Volvo AC bus at 8 pm from New Delhi, Majnu Ka Tilla bus stand and I reached Mcleodganj next day early morning.
Exploring Mcleodganj: Saturday:
It was around 8 o’clock in the morning when I got down from the bus in Mcleod Ganj upper Dharamshala. After getting down from the bus, I could see the beauty of nature scattered all around. WOW, WOW, WOW, …. I kept on saying this wherever I saw, I was in the lap of nature, I was in the lap of Himalaya. I was very excited to be there. My hotel was in Bhagsu Nag which was a 3km walk from Mcleod Ganj bus stop, I decided not to take any taxi or cab, I just walked to Bhagsu Nag, I didn’t want to miss the opportunities to see the beauty of Mcleod Ganj, that’s why decided to walk. On the way to Bhagsu Nag from Mcleod Ganj I saw the beauty of nature, the pure, pious, innocent nature which gives everything to us, today I got a chance to see them all together.
Just after reaching Bhagsu Nag from Mcleod Ganj, I went to Bhagsu Nag temple and here only I started listening to the waterfall sound and then I asked somebody what is this sound and then the answer was quite satisfying, yes, it was Bhagsu Nag waterfall. On the way to Bhagsu Nag waterfall from the Bhagsu Nag temple, I could see the beauty of the valley, took some selfies and I was near the waterfalls. You have to maintain some distance from the falls or else you will be drenched, you can’t take selfie, your phone will be drenched as the water is falling from the mountain in full force, don’t dare put your head under the waterfall, while taking shower, the force of the water is so strong that it may damage your head.
After taking the close view of the waterfalls, I thought to check-in in the hotel, but as the check-in time was at 12 o’clock, so I decided to have some more fun before going to the hotel. I saw water coming from the mountain everywhere so I took out my toothbrush and paste and started brushing my teeth, people started staring at me but I was not giving a damn care to them, I was enjoying the moment, I was enjoying the company of nature. After brushing my teeth I found one small time Dhaba where I ordered bread and omelet, I was very hungry. After finishing bread and omelet I was still hungry so I ordered Maggie. I paid 80 rupees for bread omelet and Maggie and I started walking towards my hotel, on the way to the hotel I found one girl selling selfie stick, I purchased the selfie stick and I was good to go for fun. It was around 11 AM when I reached my hotel, I gave my ID and I got my room key after waiting for around 40 minutes, after getting into the hotel room, I took a shower and after that, I was ready to explore Mcleod Ganj.
After getting ready in the hotel, first of all, I went Dharamkot, which is 2-3 km up from Bhagsunag, I again walked to this place, when I was on the way to Dharamkot from Mcleod Ganj, I found nobody on the road, I would say It was not a road , It was combination of forest, road, stairs and the houses, somehow I reached Dharamkot through the dead silent road, sometimes I felt scared on the way to Dharamkot because of the silence on the road. There is a good road as well which goes to Dharamkot but it is from Mcleodganj Market, as I was going to Dharamkot from Bhagsu Nag that’s why I had to face all these difficulties, but I took it as fun.
After reaching Dharamkot, I just said wow, the place was perfect to take pictures. I took so many selfies there. After a little walk in Dharamkot, I covered the entire Dharamkot and then I decided to go some new place but I didn’t find the energy to go down the hill so I hired a taxi and told him to drive me to Naddi.
Naddi is a picturesque place, you will find a photo viewpoint here as well, people come here to take pictures, to see the Kangra valley and to see the sunset. I took some pictures of the place and Just after few minutes of my stay at Naddi, it started raining, so I thought to leave, I had one plate of veg Momos, paid 50 rupees and left the place. It started raining little more, my next place was Dal Lake, I found it walkable from Naddi so even in the rain I walked to Dal Lake with umbrella, please be careful while walking in the hilly area, you have to be little cautious while walking, because the road is small but the cars come from both the side. I reached Dal Lake after 15 minutes of walk from Naddi, I took some selfie at the lake and the decision to leave for Dalai Lama Temple, so from Dal Lake I took an auto for Mcleod Ganj market and from the market I walked to Dalai Lama Temple, the temple is walkable from Mcleod Ganj Market.
At around 3, I was in Dalai Lama temple, at the entrance of the temple, you will find the photos of Tibetan leaders who were killed in Tibetan Freedom struggle in the years 1987-88-89. Mcleodganj is called the little Tibet of India as well and when you visit the place you come to know that this place is really a little Tibet of India. After spending some time inside the Dalai Lama temple I came out and decided to go to St. John’s Church. To go to St. John’s church I took the walk of 2 km from Mcleodganj Market. The moment I reached near the church it started raining. I took a couple of pictures of the church and decided to sit in a shade, there were some locals sitting in the shade. Once the rain stopped I took a walk to my hotel, this is how I finished my first day in Mcleod Ganj.
After reaching the hotel, I took some rest and then I dialed to the reception for my dinner. After having dinner I decided to sleep. I got up next day in the morning at 9, yes I slept more because it was a little cold in the morning, and after getting up I took only half an hour to get ready for my second-day trip.
